Joyous Autumn Tidings to you!

I am writing to announce the schedule of Reiki classes I will be teaching this season. I think that it’s a great time of year to gain more skills in the healing realms. Remember that stress is the main culprit that depletes our energy reserves and immune system functions, leaving us more susceptible to illness. As we transition from summer to fall, the loss of light, the new-found dampness, and chill in the air can also throw our equilibrium off as we recalibrate our bodies. Doing Reiki on ourselves, loved ones, and clients creates the space for deep relaxation and rejuvenation and boosts are overall health. This in turn can save us money and time that we would be using to see health care providers and buying remedies to help make us better. First, do your best to make yourself well, and better still, prevent yourself from falling “under the weather” in the first place. Prioritize enough rest and enough time for fun and exercise. How can you add more balance to your life?

Classes

2nd degree: Saturday, October 22nd, 10am-6pm, snacks and manual provided, please bring a lunch. $150

1st & 2nd degree weekend: November 12th & 13th, 10am-6pm, snacks and manual provided, please bring a lunch. $300 – folks are encouraged to come to both, but depending on the numbers, it is open to participating one day only for $150.

3rd Degree, Master Practitioner Level: Saturday, December 3rd, 10am-6pm, snacks and manual provided, please bring a lunch. $150

With each level, students receive a certificate of completion. LMT’s earn CEU’s toward state re-licensing renewal requirements. I will have “Reiki: The Healing Touch” by William Lee Rand, the purple manual for 1st and 2nd degree students, that I highly recommend for study, available for purchase at cost for $14 (a 30% savings from retail). Classes are held in my cozy, retreat-like home in Southwest Eugene, OR.

Please call or email me to sign up.

If you have any friends or family who may be interested in taking a Reiki course with me, please send them my way. I also offer private courses when it is not convenient to make a group workshop. While I am going to continue offering Reiki workshops to the general public, I will also be steering my focus toward training parents and parents-to-be as Reiki practitioners, because I believe it is very powerful and bonding for parents to model themselves as empowered, self sufficient, and effective healers in their household. Reiki can only add harmony and relaxation, so everyone can more easily stay healthy and enjoy quiet, nurturing time together.

Join Meghan and one of her Reiki Master Teachers, Paul Nelson, in a weekend of Reiki expansion! Paul’s partner, Laura Magpali, my other Reiki Teacher, usually co-teaches with him, but she will be unavailable for this class, so I am honored to take her place. On her website, www.asanctuaryforhealing.net, she describes the Reiki II class as follows, “Students note an increase in their perception and effectiveness with this next level. 2 more symbols, their meanings, and some of the many ways to use them are taught, practiced, and explored. These symbols are used to address emotional and mental issues, as well as being able to send Reiki’s healing energies to anyone, anywhere.

This  2nd level of training goes into much more depth and specifics as to the charkas, the body organs, and their emotional counterparts. Further practice with scanning, how to make and use a Reiki “ball”, how to apply the symbols for personal healing, for manifesting, and even for creating your future. This knowledge enables the practitioner to address a vast array of conditions, physical, emotional, and mental both for one’s self, and for others.”

Pre-requisite is being attuned to Reiki 1st Degree. A Reiki II manual and certificate of completion will be provided. LMT’s may receive continuing education credit, and this class is open to the public.

Cost: $165

Times: Saturday, March 12th: 11am-5pm

Sunday, March 13th: 11am-5pm

Location: Paul’s lovely home on Foothill Dr. in Southeast Eugene – directions given upon enrollment.

Tea and snacks are provided. Please bring a lunch – you are welcome to use kitchen amenities as needed.

Join me for a weekend of healing initiation and empowerment by learning the gift of Reiki. This level I class gives you the attunements, practice, and teachings of this easy-to-use Japanese energy healing technique.

There are, generally speaking, three levels of Reiki. This first level course provides the history and foundations to understand and become a confident Reiki practitioner. The emphasis is on the physical aspect of healing. The student will receive four attunements to enable him/her to connect to the Usui Reiki lineage, open his/her energy pathways to be able to channel Reiki for the remainder of his/her life.

This class is open to anyone with an intention to bring more healing into their lives for their personal self-development and/or to help others. LMT’s receive CEU’s. Reiki is an effective tool for caregivers, healing practitioners in other fields, or for the general lay person. It is very easy to use, and can enhance personal development and health dramatically. Reiki I is a prerequisite for taking levels II and III as well as Karuna Reiki.

Please bring a lunch. Some tea and snacks provided. You may use the fridge or stove as needed.

Cost: $150 – receive $10 off when you refer a friend. Class includes an info booklet and certificate of completion.

Times:  Saturday 2/26 11am-5pm
Sunday 2/27 11am-5pm.

I am really excited, because I recently bought a brand new massage chair from the local massage table manufacturer here in Eugene, OR, Custom Craftworks. I never really explored doing much chair massage during my seven year career until I did volunteer massage the past few months at the Willamette Valley Cancer Center. It turned out to be such a success for patients, caregivers, and staff, as well as enjoyable for me, so I decided to get my own chair and offer this new service. My healing hands chair massage kit includes the chair, clean face cradle covers for each client, relaxing music (optional), and essential oils (optional). I use chemical-free and safe cleaning products on my linens and for sanitation, so everyone stays healthy.

Chair massage is a great addition to a workplace where employees can take a 10-20 minute break to enjoy some relaxation. Even ten minutes can make a significant difference and work out a few knots in the shoulders, a common area of tightness for people who consistently work at a desk using a computer.

Fundraising events, weddings, festivals, retirement homes, hospitals, and parties are other great venues where chair massage is appropriate. Most people are so needy for a little healing touch to gain some relief from all of the stresses and pressures of life.

Remember, massage therapy is smart, preventative health care. It helps keep the immune system strong, encourages normal range of motion in joints, and relaxes tense muscle tissue to avoid injury, pain, and headaches.

Let me know if I can be of service.

Happy Holidays! :)

We are a community in need. I live in Eugene, so that is where I can most easily give, but expanding my gaze to the global community to which we all belong, I see that we are a community in need… of healing, loving touch, compassion, self love and acceptance and more open-heartedness.

This fall I enrolled in the Lane Community College Student Clinic in the Massage Therapy Program (which I completed 8 years ago, though the curriculum has changed), as a prerequisite for volunteering Reiki at the Willamette Valley Caner Center and doing volunteer hospice massage with Cascade Hospice. The class provides necessary training on how to most compassionately and effectively just be with someone going through and illness, grief, or end of life transition, as well as safety concerns about how to massage folks who are more fragile than the average healthy person. I want to mention my teacher, Jan Locke, LMT, who I find to be an amazingly compassionate healer, instructor, and person who has worked very hard in our community for many years to bring massage to the sick, dying, and needy in the medical community and its hard working staff and caregivers. Being able to bridge modalities labeled “alternative” with allopathic medicine continues to be a challenge, but Jan as made significant progress locally.

I began volunteering at the cancer center last week. Two wonderful coordinators there, Lynda and Gretchen, can take credit for helping to organize the volunteer massage program, which I think is such an amazing bonus for patients who are there for stressful procedures like radiation and chemotherapy. I will be there 2 hours a week the entire month of November doing chair massage for patients, caregivers, and staff. I had a lot of fun on my first day and look forward to going back. Once the LCC class is over I will be volunteering Reiki there the last Thursday of the month (the only day it is offered – hopefully than can change in the future. Baby steps of progress…)

Soon, I will be finished with my training, so I will be volunteering with hospice patients to bring them more comfort with gentle massage, Reiki, and aromatherapy. Cascade Hospice seems like a wonderful non-profit. They have one LMT, Maggie Rose, on staff who sees over 30 patients a week for massage. She is overloaded with the high demand, so volunteers from the Integrative Therapy Team, including me, will be able to help provide for more folks. I look forward to supporting the community in this new way, and feel humbled to be trusted as a healing force in what I perceive to be a  profound, personal, and reflective time in one’s life – the end days.

Let us be grateful for the life force, health, family, friends, and community we have in our lives. Remember, we are all one big connected family, and the Golden Rule remains as a deep truth. I celebrate Thanksgiving in that vein. Open your heart – I learn more everyday how to peel off another layer from mine.  Namaste! -MeghanQ

Change is in the air. Autumn leaves in my yard portray the concept beautifully.

For those of you who know me and my healing practice, you are likely aware of an ongoing saga pertaining to my home/office I lovingly call the Tree House. I announced a few months ago that I would be closing my doors Sept 12th as the sale of my home was to be finalized at that time. But as circumstance has it, the sale was canceled. If you have been reading major news media outlets in the past few weeks, you may have heard about the national mortgage/foreclosure drama that is unfolding. My property is involved, but to what extent I am unclear. My present status is a public auction/foreclosure of my home/office December 17th, so I plan to keep living and working at my little retreat space until I hear notice to move by the bank or a new owner.

As Autumn prevails in Eugene, the creek is rushing, the leaves are falling, and the gas stove is turned on to provide cozy, fiery ambiance for healing sessions. Feel free to give me a call to schedule your next appointment. Become one of the many who have had the privilege of being nurtured in my serene space.

Heath and abundance-filled blessings to you and yours! -Meghan

Hands-on Training With doTERRA CPTG* Essential Oils

*certified pure therapeutic grade

Using eight specific Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade (CPTG) essential oils by doTERRA, the AromaTouch Technique is a clinical approach to applying essential oils along energy meridians and visceral contact points of the back and feet to help balance sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems of the body. This simple and intuitive modality boosts the immune system, reduces inflammation in the body, promotes homeostasis and is very grounding and relaxing for recipients, acting on both the physical and emotional levels.  Participants leave smelling amazing!

This class is a great way to experience the healing benefits of essential oils. This is a technique that anyone can learn to give to a spouse, friend, or family member to promote a balanced, healthy body. It is also a great modality to incorporate into a healing practice for massage therapists or energy medicine practitioners. 3 CE hours available for LMT’s.

Taught by Meghan Quinn, LMT & Reiki Master

In the class you will observe the technique, give the session with direction from Meghan or Jan, and receive a session. You will receive a handout to take home that contain the directions for future use.

Cost: $15 to cover the cost of the oils – the price of this class will increase in the future, so the incentive is to take it now while it is inexpensive. Space is limited to 9 participants.
